Powell Industries, Inc. Materials Management Supervisor in North Canton, Ohio

The Material Control Supervisor will report to the Purchasing Manager in the Operations department. The Material Control Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the achievement of established production and overall company objectives in the areas of safety, quality, cost and productivity.

• Ensure all safety policies and guidelines are being followed. Additionally, work with our Safety Manager to identify opportunities to make our workplace safer

• Responsible for planning and scheduling the daily activities of our Material Handling Team

• Report out on the performance of the material handling team on a weekly / monthly basis

• Ensure jobs are kitted on time and kitted with zero errors

• Ensure we are shipping and receiving product in accordance with SOX guidelines

• Responsible for shipping products out on time and in compliance with all applicable DOT Regulations, Powell Shipping Policy and Customer Requirements

• Maintain an inventory accuracy greater than 99%

• Develop the material handling team by creating training plans, and training employees accordingly

• Identify and implement improvement opportunities in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People

• Ensure employees are performing work which follows the documented Powell Quality System Procedures by Auditing on a regular basis

• Meet financial objectives by controlling overtime allowance and variable department expenses

• Develop and deliver effective communications with direct reports, teams, other functions, departments, and other internal and external contacts, as required

• Administer Powell policy and procedures consistently

• Administer performance evaluations for all direct reports

• Effectively manage performance by holding all employees accountable

• Act as a change agent; Lead and influence employees at all levels in and through the change process

• Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and Environmental regulations and employment laws

• Experience leading in a "change environment"

• Applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPS, or other continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong time management and organizational skills

• Strong analytical skills

• Ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment

• Good oral and written communication skills

• Must be responsible and dependable

• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, collaborating with peers and associates

• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in teams and manage team activities

• Demonstrated leadership capability
