Powell Industries, Inc. Senior Electrical Assembler 326 in Houston, Texas

  • Learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents

    • Learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production

    • Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality

    • Install, run, and terminate conduit by following standard work/process instructions

    • Bend, run, and install conduit (EMT, Rigid, Wire way, and Cable tray)

    • Install wiring by following standard work/process instructions (NEC Manual)

    • Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized

    • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally

    • Constantly standing

    • Frequently working from a ladder, and climbing up and down ladders.

    • Constantly working overhead

    • Constantly working in cramped quarters

    • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience

  • Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal

I. Key Responsibilities

• Ability to layout and plan all conduit routings

• Ability to layout and plan all cable tray

• Ability to layout and plan all wire way

• Understand complex schematic drawings

• Ability to mount equipment on PCRs properly per Powell Standards

• Have knowledge of NEC code book

• Identify and correct process issues

• Ability to lead a team to complete tasks

• Assign tasks to others

• Perform in-process inspection

• Advance product knowledge

• Identify development needs within group and coordinate training

Responsibilities, Skills, Experience, and Requirements

• Successful candidate will typically have 3-5 years of relevant work experience

• Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal

• Basic product knowledge (understanding of how work ties into the larger picture) based on departmental need/requirement

• Knowledge of and ability to use basic tools (tape measure, power tools, hand tools, air tools, crimpers, SMART bender, Rigid 535, bandsaw, Rigid 700, knockout, etc.)

• Ability to convert decimals to fractions

• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers

• Ability to effectively work in team environment

• Ability to follow company operating procedures, safety rules and ISO requirements

Working Environment

Work is performed in a shop and yard fabrication environment with constant exposure to the elements of our shop and yard.
