Powell Industries, Inc. Administrative Assistant in Canton, Ohio

Provide administrative support to the North Canton Division of Powell and its functional leaders. Duties include general clerical, reception, project based work, and to project a professional company image through in-person and phone interaction.

  • Create and modify documents with MS Office tools

  • Create and update employee bulletin boards, monitors and other communications

  • Receive, sort and distribute daily mail, send FedEx packages and other mailings as needed by the business.

  • Order office supplies as needed

  • Assist with employee engagement: organize, plan and execute employee events, functions, lunches and fund raisers

  • Process all division purchase requisitions in a timely manner

  • Manage vendors’ services for: vending, uniforms, cleaning company and other division services.

  • Coordinate and maintain key records of office personnel, such as cell phone numbers, training records and employee service.

  • Prepare for customer visits: set-up and coordinate meeting spaces and attendee list as may be required

  • Greet customers, vendors and visitors upon arrival to Powell

  • Maintain and update visitor’s logs and badges.

  • Support staff in assigned project based work

  • Help with office orientation of new employees

  • Answer telephones and transfer to appropriate staff member

  • Other duties as may be assigned

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 5 years of previous manufacturing administrative experience, supporting multiple functional areas

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skill required

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to type at least (50) words per minute

  • Professional image and tone with customer
